    Sonata for a Floating Goldfish

The rain was horendous. I jumped out of my car with the umbrella in tow. Ran to the doorsteps as fast as i could and still got soaked. When i got inside i was startled by Helios, my pet goldfish. He had got out of his bowl again and swelled up to the size of a beach ball. Thunder and lightning will do that to any good fish. He bounced around the kitchen and into the living room. I had to act quickly, who knows how long he's been holding his breath.

I tried to remember what i did last time in this awkward situation. Then it hit me, i ran upstairs to my bedroom closet and grabbed my cherry wood stained cello. I sat in my favorite chair in the middle of the room and Helios slowly floated towards me. Classical strings was always a favorite of his.
I thought one of Chopin's gentler compositions would do the trick. He stared at me with those big bulbous eye's and his Louie Armstrong puffy face.

Under the spell of my playing, my sun speckled friend flipped and flopped in the air and eventually shrank down to his normal size. Positioning himself over his fishbowl, he plopped down inside into the cool water and swam back into his castle for a good nights sleep.

Amazingly enough, not one drop of Gloop was used in this piece.

It's mostly oil brush, watercolor mix and blender with the ink pen for the line work. Had a great deal of fun with this one.

    Enjoy

    Mike

I think this is wonderful – like an obscure dream. I particularly like the rich colours and ink work of Helios and the background to the cellist. I find this quite inspiring. Thank you.
