Master references for study so far (updated Aug-10):
Leighton (this post)
Monet
Bouguereau
Caravaggio
Favretto
Boyce
Rodin
Tolouse-Lautrec
Rubens
Hi again,
I'm probably not the only one around here who love to use a painting by an old or new master (Michelangelo, Rubens or even contemporary artists like Luis Royo) for reference and then try to "copypaint" it using ArtRage. For enjoyment and practice that is.
The idea with this thread is simple: Anyone posts an image of a painting and then we all try to sketch/draw/paint it in ArtRage.
I'm currently working on a Luis Royo study, but since I doubt that it's allowed to post a contemporary image for reference, I'll post one of my master study WIPs before that, after "Icaros" by Frederic Leighton.
Anyone may post a reference for others to practice from - no time limits, no pressure, the goal is to have fun and improve our drawing/painting while studying great art. No need to achieve a final study. Sketch to final, anything goes.
Here is Leghton's original:
Icaros
and here is how far I got in my study a couple of months ago (using ArtRage3):
Just to illustrate the idea. Now, feel free to give Leighton's painting a try or post another reference that you think should be studied. Above all: Have fun!![]()
