Hi again,
I'm probably not the only one around here who love to use a painting by an old or new master (Michelangelo, Rubens or even contemporary artists like Luis Royo) for reference and then try to "copypaint" it using ArtRage. For enjoyment and practice that is.

The idea with this thread is simple: Anyone posts an image of a painting and then we all try to sketch/draw/paint it in ArtRage.

I'm currently working on a Luis Royo study, but since I doubt that it's allowed to post a contemporary image for reference, I'll post one of my master study WIPs before that, after "Icaros" by Frederic Leighton.

Anyone may post a reference for others to practice from - no time limits, no pressure, the goal is to have fun and improve our drawing/painting while studying great art. No need to achieve a final study. Sketch to final, anything goes.

If landscapes seem more appealing (at least I find them easier than figure studies ), this beautiful painting by Monet could be a good study subject:

Couldn't resist giving it a go at once. Rather quickly trying to block in some basic colors and establishing the main composition, the first sketch looks like this:

Had to give a detail of the Bouguerau painting a try. Here's a first sketch, blocking in and beginning to find a working palette to color pick from when moving on to smaller brushes (never color pick from the original, think it's fun and good practice trying to find appropriate colors :-D):
