I got an strange idea, as I have no idea how it looks the programming
side of the program my imagination get in a possible or perhaps rather
impossible idea, what is all about :

I don't use very much the tracing tool and I think that in my case
what annoy me the most is this fixed position that is difficult and hard
    to change.

I thought that it would be nice to be able to switch somehow the use of the Canvas Positioner to be able to be a tracing Image Positioner when needed,
also to have the ability to reset to the initial position would be necessary.

This function would give us the ability to be more creative using the tracing tool and the possibility of changing fast whatever dimension or rotation or position would be suitable in the moment,
it would be really great to have that, if possible of cause . Thank You !

    New Interface for 4.0?

    Silly question really.

Would AR4 have a completely new interface than 3.0? or will you just use the 3.0 engine / interface and just add new features?

    Just curious

At this point, we're planning on doing a lot more work on ArtRage 3, so ArtRage 4 plans haven't really come into it yet Thanks for the feedback though, everyone!

The interface for Studio/Pro was changed to allow for more flexibility in the future compared to the previous design so I don't foresee any massive changes now that it's in place. There are some improvements in the works to the current UI but that basic model should be with us for some time to come.

sai is better than any vector art package, because its damn right simple to use. The artists doesnt have to learn tangents and all that boring stuff in order to get the desired result. You create straight lines and then you bend them by making more control points. You can also have pressure sensitivity to thouse lines by applying weight values to the same control points. Try it

Just try the trial. It's as simple as point and click. There is not one vector package that has it so intuitive and easy to control. Its the best lineart tracing tool ever invented. Also, one important point for this tool- you do not need to practice or even use a wacom tablet in order to get awesome inking. You can do it with a mouse, even if you arent a skilled artist, such as the guy who posted an example here.

I'll have you know that many experienced classic animators and illustrators love paint tool sai, because it lets them ink their pictures easily. The reason for that is because they haven't gotten used to tablets and digital inking. Thats paint tool sai's main selling point. I know some people who are in this for over 10-20 years..They love coloring digitally but find inking frustrating without that tool.

Also, its way more intuitive and simple than illustrator or any other vector package. I never got used to tangents and all that jazz

He's talking about Paint Tool (or Painttool) SAI, I believe.

    Improvements

Never have I loved and hated any one program so much as AR3. Here is what I would do to it if only I could

+ Speed! This is what keeps me going back to Painter and fooling about with Sai. AR3 is abysmally slow on a machine which runs all its other software quickly if not flat out fast. Take advantage of multiple core processors and lighten up a little on the matter of authenticity. If I truly wanted to wait around for watercolors to dry I would actually paint in watercolors. Having to wait three seconds between clicking the eye on a layer and having that layer disappear sends me through the roof.

+ Hide Marquee - the ability to hide the selection marquee has been around since the dawn of photoshop, why isn't it here?

+ Multiple Layer Transform - you did a fantastic job with the transform tool, now how about letting it transform multiple layers of art at the same time.

+ Zoom Toggle - the Z key. I like how H and V quickly flip the picture back and forth, but how about making the Z key momentarily zoom out to an upright full screen view of the picture when down and then back to where you had it when up. I waste far too much time zooming out to see how a pic looks and then finding my way back again. Having the letter G flip it over to grayscale for analyzing values would be nice too.

+ References - I love how AR3 handles reference images, but there's room for improvement here too.
++ Have a double click on an image in the reference palette bring that image to the forefront.
++ Give referenences the ability to copy in reference images in from the clipboard.
++ Clicking New should allow you to open multiple reference images instead of just one at a time.
++ The art rage file should store the positioning, visibility, rotation, etc... of the various image references in between file saves.

    + And some random stuff....
++The setting panel keeps inexplicably creeping down
++The precise color tool should let you use Alt for an eyedropper.
++It would be nice if dialogs such a Preferences and keyboard shortcuts would remember their placement on the screen and which groups were open and which were not.
++For those of us who use a Nostromo gaming keyboard for shortcuts, it would be very nice to have just a single key shortcut to pan, zoom and rotate the canvas instead of having to combine it with a right click or a spacebar and drag or resort to using a tool. The navigation compass was a feat of brilliance which still has yet to prove its usefulness.

And that's it. I don't ask for too much do I? The Speed problem is the biggest. Painter seems kinda junky, Sai is a little too devo, Photoshop is behind the times - I'd love to run off with ArtRage and leave the rest behind, but until ArtRage conquers its speed problem and the ability to handle larger images the application juggling will continue.
