Alrdrik, you rock!
Thanks for that. :-) It worked great!

Could someone tell me if the export to image function works on the full version ?
Preferably as png or psd. Jpeg I can live without :P
Or if there's a usable workaround ? ( other than taking many screenshots at 100% zoom and joining all the parts haha )
Thanks

Export doesn't work ATM. The only way I can think of (beside that screenshots solution
is to save the painting and open it with ArtRage2 and export it. Of course, if you don't own AR2 licence, then, well, for now you'll have to use screenshots

Hurray the export bug was almost silly !
Just installed 'corefonts' with winetricks, and it now works!
Seems it needed the arial font for rendering the demo watermark.
If you've got the full version could you please verify it works for psd and png as well ?

Can't be?!
I'll have full version in a day or two, I think. I would post your findings in bug report on winehq. Thanks a lot
So, three more to go:
1. Black borders around panels, tooltips etc.,
2. Tablet stroke starts with a tiny bit at full pressure,
3. Sluggishness (present with recent editions of wine, even with AR2.5 for which I submitted a bug report).

Already did, just as a comment though.
With that sorted out the only thing that remains are the black window borders, which are ugly, but trivial and definitely a wine bug (or rather incomplete support for layered windows). They're bound to appear in other apps as well and be fixed eventually.
The stroke pressure glitch looks like an artrage issue, just exposed by wine. Hopefully the future update will sort it out..
And if the sluggishness is a regression it must be fixable as well.
All in all, I'd say artrage3 works comparably to artrage 2 in linux, that is to say quite well, all things considered =D
edit: I must admit I'm not seeing any difference in speed between wine 1.0.1 and latest (.35). Try doing a regression test, following the instructions link posted on your bug report. It's an easy step by step procedure but it takes a lot of time, and the difference between good and bad behavior must be obvious enough .

Doing that at this very moment. I couldn't check out AR3 with 1.1.0 since it doesn't work with it, but will see if later versions prior to .34 work. And that lags look same in AR2 and AR3, so solving the issue for AR2 will hopefully solve it for AR3 too.

Regression testing finished (what a ride, took me a whole day to finish
), the patch which was causing the problem was related to graphic card's driver (mine is nVidia GeForce 9500 GT, nVidia's driver version 185.18.36-ubuntu9) and the author of the patch suggested a solution which is:
1. Run wine regedit,
2. Find the string ClientSideWithRender and set it to N,
If the string doesn't exist, create it:
1. Create a new key named X11 Driver under HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Wine
2. After that create under it a new string value, name it ClientSideWithRender and set it to N
So, only two more issues to go now
azathothgr, would you report that one with black window borders?

I dunno, I think the issue must be already reported in some other app.
This one looks very similar if not exactly the same : http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15118
I'll wait a bit and if no one replies I'll just add that one to the artrage appdb page.

The new update fixes the pressure problem in wine too!
With a working ruler, it's better than artrage 2 now, at least functionally.
The only thing that remains is the black borders, which I'm afraid might be unsolvable. There's an older bug report about special windows that mentions the wine devs can't really do anything about it, at least until some other things fall into place.
There should be a way to improve it visually though, with compiz and the colorfilter plugin.. I'll try looking into other filters and maybe there's a way to turn black to transparent. The border will still be there, and still be unclickable, but it might look better.
