I was playing with layers and this just kind of popped out. It looks awfull but I can see a really nice piece in there somewhere. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Squirl,
first...........please forgive me for taking your painting but you said you could see potential in there.......me too.........so I downloaded your work and just continued using the layers............the blending options and the transform layer option and after 15 minutes this is what your picture became.....................you may not like it but I just wanted to say don't stop until it POPS out at you..........there is so much you can do with layers and blends.............I've only just dsicovered it myself and I joined the forums in 2006!
Have as much fun as you want with this marvelous program!!!!

Squirls,
I have a present for you too. A moon stencil. Have fun.
Thanks! I will go back and play with this!![]()
Wow, what a great learning area this is!
Great start Squirls, I am learning with you.
Straight away i saw a great landscape, the sun looks awesome with the cloud running across it like that, your picture is only one piece of the landscape, don't give up
Avoid the rabbit hole at all costs, you'll get lost, trust me on this
Just kidding, i love your rabbit hole pieces peter hehehe![]()

First thing, I wouldn't call it horrid. it doesn't repulse. And, in fact, is quite pleasant to look at. It's just a matter of goal vs current achievement, I think.
The mood of a full moon shrouded in cloud is immediately apparent. The cloud work is a great start. Gzaireborne's moon stencil could come in very handy for tightening up the moon detail.
"I don't mean to be rude, mister, but, may I ask what exactly you are looking at?"
"I was just noticing your friend, there."
"I don't know why. He's not much to look at, and I don't think he would reciprocate your interest."

more contrast with the clouds against moon and taper that out as the clouds come away from occluding the moon... would make it pop. I agree the cloud texture is nice.
also luminosity layer, try a mid grey there as it turns to be dark against light and light against dark. good for interchange of contrast and luminosity doesn't change color, just value.
Thanks for the tips guys. Sammy, this will give me an excuse to play/learn more of the features I don't really understand. I'll play with it more after the holidays and see what I discover then share the best with ya!
