Swallows
Not really ArtRage related but we have had a huge hatch - over two or three weeks or so - of what I call crane flies:
Attachment 103392
Their wing span is about 1 to 2 cm.
And as a result our resident population of about ten welcome swallows:

has swollen to almost a hundred. They are dazzlingly gymnastic fliers and at times, particularly around dusk, they swarm around the house hunting, I presume, the crane flies. It’s a spectacular display.

We call them Crane Flies here too.
The aerial agility of both swallows and swifts is quite amazing to sit and watch:cool:
Do you have bats too in the evenings, chowing down on the crane flies as well?

We do have bats, they are the only indigenous mammal in Aotearoa. I haven’t seen any lately! :D
