View Full Version : Sunset final

Dreamed about this one all last night, thought about it all day. I think it's done.

I like it, but why is it all hazy? How did you achieve that effect?

The original was done at 1800x1200. I then used that as a tracing image blown up to 7200x4800 and went over it with the glitter tool at max pressure and 1% size. Then I reduced that image back down and used the explosion effect in Irfanview.

Very nice sunset Robert !

It reminds me of many sunsets that I saw in the midwest of the US.
My only thought is that the tree looks a little transparent. Is that your intention?

I really like the sky - very well done and evocative.

This work is impressive, RobertSWade!
We are in the "criticism", but really hard for me to advise anything without knowing of your intentions.
Wonderful landscape, I like!

The sky is great with wonderful depth to it.
On my screen, I can almost see some hazy contour in the foreground that gives depth to the land, but I have to look a certain way to see it.
It may be just my screen, but I would like to see that ground haze just a tiny bit more distinctive so I don't have to look so hard.
Once my eyeballs made out that ground haze, it has a great feeling of distance in both the sky and the ground.
Your center of interest was not placed dead center on the horizonal line which is great for the balance. Also, all four corners are dark which clearly keeps the focus in the picture. I have read about that composition trick of making the corners dark but don't think I have ever really noticed it being done.
