Stencilling.

Hi there, I was just messing around with the airbrush tool and realised that there is no way to stencil off areas like a lot of airbrush artists do. Perhaps some way of cutting holes in a new layer to mask the below layer would work.

I know I'd enjoy this option as it would be applicable to all the tools.

Airbrush on a transparent layer and use the eraser tool to carve the result. ;)

I disagree with the second post, while it's a good solution it won't provide the same flexibility and features as a stencil.
