This is the first image I created entirely in ArtRage 3 Pro... except for the cigarette which was created in ArtRage but I did not know how to use AR's transform tool to skew the cigarette. I could resize or scale but could not figure out how to skew it...

I also used Paint Shop Pro to bring in a texture and overlay it on the background... Everything else is 100% ArtRage... Took me about 2.5 hours...

Let me know what I did wrong or what needs improving...

I used one of AR's smooth inking pens as I wanted more of a cartoon or comic book look....

Uck....upon closer inspection I didn't like what I did... So I re-did it without the ink lines.... I also removed the texture image from the background...

Well, the new image does look more cohesive than the first one. But now the flatness of the drawing is becoming a problem.

There's nothing wrong with caricature; but if you downplay the line drawing and move into painting, it's better to move all the way.

Add some clear shadows and enhance volume, and get rid of the last remaining lines (around the nostrils etc.) Be bold, it's a caricature!

How's this? I tried to add some depth & shadowing and smoothed the line around the nostrils...

Think of the shapes making the face up, and how the light falls on them.

if I may,
I vote for option number 2 with the background of number 1

Thanks kindly for your replies & suggestions... I really appreciate them... I'm only a newbie with no training in drawing or painting... So I realize I have many things wrong in my works...

Cheers
