Today, I noted that some people on the forum are being shown as "banned". Where you usually see whether a person is a "senior" or "junior" member, I have seen at least two persons listed as "banned". What gives with that?

The Art Rage forums have got to be one of the best on the internet. Manners seem to have been well learned and most everyone shows respect and bestows dignity on our fellow Ragers. The friendliness and helpfulness is appreciated. I'm glad the Rage team takes care of the cleanliness, if you will, of the site.

Also, depending on the reason for the ban, the poster may only be banned for a certain time period, rather then a permanent ban.

Hey Bobbi, here are the steps to maintain your active member status:
1. Don't talk about _________ or __________ or especially ___________
2. Don't share your views on ___________ or __________.
3. Never mention ___________ or _______________ or _______________.
4 Never use words like ______, _______, _______, or _________.
5. Anything related to art is acceptable except _________ or __________.
6. Never make Tyco mad!
At least, those are the steps I use and for some reason they keep me around!:D:D:D

I think making Tyco mad is one of the most important "no no's". No one but no one wants to have any cat mad at them. Even if he is half way around the world, they have their ways of getting revenge. :D

Also, being a real person probably helps :rolleyes:
The "Golden Rule".. If we remember that, and practice it here and throughout our interactions throughout our life, I don't believe we will be baned from here or any other place that we hope to go..

To post, or not to post: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous posting,
Or to take arms against a sea of comments,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of comments,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of disprized love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.

I banned a couple of spam users yesterday after one was pointed out and another showed up as a bot after some quick searching. There's nothing quite so satisfying as stopping a spam flood before it can start!
