Love the simplicity (though it's very complex.) Great use of color, and texture.

That's a lot of snow, be hard to find the keys. I agree it would make a lovely card.

Thanks for the exceedingly nice feedback everybody. I found the challenge with this one was creating a background that was moderately interesting enough to stand on its own, yet not so "busy" that it would distract from the animation that would happen above it.
Oh hey look, I found my keys!!
k, bye

Absolutely wonderful. You must be the drawer of the cartoon Samurai Jack! Your style is practically coincident.

Hey Hottaco,
I dig your style man! Been trying to replicate that look in photoshop without any success. Would you care to share your process and brush settings for this?
Cheers!

Hello dragonfly1979 - It's been awhile (3 years?!?) since I did this piece, but as I recall it was nothing too special. I mostly used AR for the big shapes to emulate real media. If I recall I just smeared a few colors of paint from the tubes and smeared em around with the palette knife. I did this for all the layers (foreground, background, mts, etc) then exported to PSD for a bit of color correction.
Hope that helps. AR is awesome, I wish I had the time to make more BGs.
One more thing that may help: I drew everything in AI first and created stencils for all the layers. Dig?

Thanks Mr. Taco,
were the spongy textures (dry brush) added in AR also?
Thanks for the quick reply!
Cheers.

It's great to see a piece missed from the past. splendid stuff. such a calming effect and beautiful blue. love the vector look you achieved by bringing in from illustrator.
